random things about the Lakers this week

Kobe Bryant said he is definitively coming back next season there was a lot of talk saying that he was going to retire before the injury even happened and he said that he wasn’t going to let an injury decide when he has to hang up the shoes and be done with basketball he said he was going to leave on his own terms when he thinks it is a good time for him to say this is my last year.

Kobe Bryant actually thought about signing with the Washington Wizards back in 2004 because he wanted to play with Michael Jordan who Kobe looks up to as his mentor, they have very similar playing styles Kobe has grown into doing some of Jordan’s moves and sometimes people try to use that when they get into an argument about who was better they say “Kobe isn’t better because all he did was steal all of Jordan’s moves” like he said he looked up to Jordan and he thinks of him as his mentor of course he is going to pick up on how to do some of Jordan’s signature things.

Nick Young said since they lost Kobe due to injury that they should just give him the ball and get out of the way, I don’t know if that is such a great idea because he hasn’t been doing so great when it comes to shooting the ball he is shooting 39% from the three point line so my opinion on Swaggy P’s over confidence is that it is way to cocky.

Reggie Jackson is an option that the Lakers are looking towards because they need a young asset that could contribute for years because the Lakers need a new franchise player to build off of i think it would be a good idea because he is a pretty good player he has a cocky attitude so he is determined to win every time he is on the floor but the problem is that the Lakers don't have a decent l-player they could trade for Jackson that is the only thing holding the Lakers back from making a deal.

A player the Lakers are looking at he is a draft prospect he is still in college he plays for virginia he is a player that can hit clutch shots in any point of the game and the Lakers are looking to sign him when the draft comes up he is expected to be drafted mid to late first round the way he plays he is compared to trevor Ariza just the way he plays everybody says that he is just like him, The down fall in his game right now is that he has a hard time creating his own shots so he relying on his team mates to create an open shot for him.

Nick young the back up guard he is also the sixth man for the Lakers Byron Scott benched him the second half of the Lakers and Rockets game because he didnt seem like he wanted to play he said he wasnt defending like he usually does and he said he was being careless with the ball throwing it everywhere on the court Nick didnt like the fact that he was benched but he said he isnt in any place to go back and forth arguing with the coach about his playing time.

practice

we have been going through a lot of plays since we are so close to a tournament and also a week after we leave we are having a tournament here so we have been going over a lot of plays and going over them everyday so that we can remember them without a problem but I am still kind of confused about some of them, some of them we have ran last year but I kind of forgot how the plays were ran last year because I didn't really get them when we ran them but I am starting to remember them.

coach has been running us a lot because he wants us to be in good shape for all of these games that are coming up because we all need to be able to run without stopping during the games running is half of our practice it is just to get our lungs into shape so we don't run out of breath so easily. so that we could keep up with all the other players when we go out to the tournament in Dillingham and when we go to regionals in New Halen because we played teams last year that were short and fast i was having a hard time keeping up with my defender because he was pretty fast but i think i stayed with him pretty good.

we are going to have practice today and then a scrimmage afterwards it isn't for the community because it is just a scrimmage to get used to all the plays we have been doing lately coach is going to stop play and talk to us about what we are doing wrong on the floor, the team was made by a player from our community that plays against us all the time so he knows how we play and we know how he plays i think it is going to be pretty fun.

My struggle this season

Pretty much this whole season I have been struggling with my shot. I have been trying to improve on a lot of other things, too. Trying to do all these things is kind of hard because I will practice something for a certain amount of time and then I will go back to something I worked on 3 weeks before that, like my shot, and try to get used to it again. By that time i have talked to my coach about it and now my new task is to go straight up when I shoot instead of fading back. I haven't had much time to practice that lately, thought, because now we are just focusing on plays.

We are focusing on plays in practice because a tournament is just around the corner. So I will have to practice it even more when we have free time, for example during men's ball would be a great time for me to get some practice in. Instead of playing I will just take time and work on skills that i need to improve. There will be three more times that mens ball will be open before we go to the tournament and that is all the time i have to practice everything. We are going to Dillingham for a tournament and I need to take time to practice some things before we leave.

This season I have been trying to become a better three point shooter. I have been practicing shooting threes a little bit here and there and my shot has become decent. It isn't as great as some of my team mates who are excellent at three-point shots. But i am slowly getting there. I am hoping to become a three point option but I also need to become more of a threat in the paint since I am a Power Forward.

The paint is where most of my points need to come from. But my problem is when i get into the paint I freeze or i take a horrible lay up and the ball isn't anywhere near the hoop. So i need to work on more footwork to get myself some space and fake my defender in the air so that it creates an easy shot for me. I get told that i need to go up stronger when I take it in and take better shots. but I also need to start loosening up when i get the ball in the paint, and I think the reason for that is that every time I get the ball in the post I think that I am going to get blocked, and it makes me nervous.

Christmas break

during Christmas break we had about 3 games, We didn't do so great on our last game my performance during that game wasn't great at all i played with anger. I played a little dirty my coach wasn't happy with me after the game because i got mad at a player on the other team and started mouthing off to him and i should have stopped when i was told by my team mates but he kept on going on so i didn't stop. coach saw that so he took me out of the game and talked to me and he wasn't happy about it so he kept me out for a couple of minutes so i could calm down and get my head in the game but we kind of gave up on ourselves and we lost the game.

Our tournament and regionals in New Halen

We are having a basketball tournament here it is exciting because we havent had any teams in our region come here since the 1980's our coach said. The teams that are coming here are New Stuyahok, New Halen and Port Alsworth the tournament is set for Feb. 5th,6th and 7th our coach bought trophies, sweaters and shirts our whole team is excited because this hasnt happened in a while there is a lot of people that coach has coached before us coming in to watch us play we are hoping for a packed gym and this will help us with money when we go on our trip to New Halen that is where regionals is this year. this coming wednesday we are going to a tournament in dillingham to play teams so that we can get ranked before we leave to regionals last year we were ranked 6th because we didnt go to a tournament and finished 4th. We lost twice to manokotak so they knocked us out of regionals we are hoping to have a some great games in New Halen and have better team communication this year.

Kobe possibly retiring before end of contract

Kobe Bryant is thinking about retirement since the Lakers aren’t in playoff contention. Byron Scott has been sitting him out since last month and the beginning of this month so that he could rest and be ready for other games. But recently on other networks I have heard that Kobe has thought about retirement and when I was scrolling through Facebook there was a post that said that Kobe said it has nothing to do with the money, “Scott said that there hasn’t been any talks about him retiring before his contract is up” after they had practice. “ Kobe said that they are just taking it game by game as of right now. He isn’t thinking about retiring before his contract is up but it has crossed his mind a few times.
